Shell gas vs BP gas
After a hypothesis of testing Shell 93 vs BP 93 on and off for 4 months i came to the conclusion that Shell Vpower is better as far as performance for the crossfire. Although i had a malibu that had 360,364 miles on the engine I used BP 89 grade it depends on the engine Both are great fuels but for the crossfire i reccomend Shell VPOWER

I have used Shell for many years. It is consistent and I don't have to change engine tunes. Plus I get 5% off every gallon using their card. I run 87 octane in all my engines. It works. Anti knock technology as used in the Crossfire.... Gary

Very intersting....
Obviously a different engine by far but one of my other cars has a heavily modified 5.7L and another has a slightly modified 6.1L.... Both have custom tunes by a large, well known tuner company for that engine / vehicle.
In both cases they have kept much better performance with BP than Shell. In fact, the heavily modified 5.7l also has a visible knock sensor signal and gauge which shows when timing is being pulled. It rarely pulls timing on BP (or Mobile / Exxon), but on the reverse I rarely maintain the programmed timing goal when running Shell...
To further back it up, the company who provides the tuner for those vehiicles recomended the fuel companies in this order:
#. Sunoco
#2 Exxon / Mobile
#3. BP
#4 Chevron
#5 Shell
They had quite afew dyno runs / data logs to prove they could get more out of the top brands on that list than the bottom...
Again, i know this is a different car, different engine and a different tune, but I still found the above feedback quite interesting. Since taking ownership of the Crossfire I have sought fuel by the above list assuming it would be the same, maybe I will make a switch soon just to see?
Wonder if the guys at Eurocharged have seen any significant variatioins by fuel supplier?

I was buying Shell until I found the ethanol free gas locally, which has higher octane and preforms noticeable better than Shell. I also found BP with higher octane than Shell on our trip to CAA this summer. LOOK HERE for ethanol free gas in your neighborhood: Ethanol-free gas stations in the U.S. and Canada

I have used Speedway 89 and 91 octane for years in my A6 and Crossfires with no problems. Since I don't race them, I have no way of comparing performance of one brand over another. Most gas comes from the same distribution channel (refiner and pipeline) as mentioned, the only difference is the additives which usually don't impact octane. When I'm on the road I use BP or Shell, whichever is least expensive. I can understand boycotting BP for those still pissed off about the Gulf spill. But then, Exxon had that little problem in Alaska.
