You scored 100% on that onehundred80! At one time or another, I've worked for GM, Ford and Chrysler. I've never directly worked for any of the "Rice Burner" "Fish & Chips Burner", "Pizza Burner", or "Kraut Burner" companies. The exception is DaimlerChrysler. GM, Ford and Chrysler will all build you a Custom Spec'ed car as long as you adhere to the Ordering Code Guides. The Guides are available at any Dealership and are not in any way Secretive. Time from Order to Delivery usually is around 4-8 weeks. I believe that the "Rice Burner" "Fish & Chips Burner", "Pizza Burner", and "Kraut Burner" companies all avoid Custom Orders due to the excessive transit time to the USA. Exceptions to that would be companies like Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Ferrari, and the like. They're all out of my league!

Last weekend, I ran inside a place to pick up some takeout. While I was in there, my wife said the Crossfire stalled. I attempted to restart it, and it didn't crank or turn over. The main fan would turn on and sound like it was going mach 12. I had full electonics, etc. After about 10 minutes of just sitting in the parking lot, the car fired right up.

Came to the forums, found this post and performed the mod.

Thank you for you this.

Does my situation sound like the exact reason this mod had to be posted?

With the no crank symptom it sounds like it.

Congrats on your fix!

And I must add that when we looked at the solder points you highlighted in your diagram the one on the left was pitted.

I just recently started having this problem. I only drive the vehicle once or twice a week... The first time was on a date! How embarrassing... The next time it happened was when I was at HMS looking at wheels. I was sitting in the seat frustrated that the car won't start, pulled up the forum and found this post. Luckily the guys at HMS could perform the mod. They pulled the RCM and the connections were as bad as reported. So far the car starts as normal. I really hope this fixed the issue completely, I have another date this weekend!

Well.... It wasn't the RCM, but the crankshaft sensor. I was able to get the sensor at O'reilly Auto parts. 10min install and haven't had any problems all weekend.

The solution of this problem was posted on this forum in December '07 by 'Woody' from the UK.
The solution was also posted on the Benzworld forum in October '06.

Hi,

i think my crossfire is having the exact same issues yours did!

mine just dies whilst driving (sometimes), the other day it wouldnt start up again at a petrol station. after leaving the car for half hour or so, it works fine.

I live in the uk, would you be happy to help me out by soldering (fixing) my fuel relay control module???

regards lewis

At this point I'd like to ask that you toss 10 bucks in with the RCM when you mail it so I don't have to pay postage to get it back to you. I'll keep the change to buy a beer for the repair!

All you folks in the cold areas that store your cars for the winter, now would be a perfect time to get someone (doesn't have to be me) to fix yer RCM.

Not mine but there is one on eBay

" Relay Control for a Chrysler Crossfire or a Mercedez SL320 ". This is a used OEM replacement unit tested and works properly. Identification numbers for this unit are A 170 545 03 05.

Starting bid is 1 cent
.
Sorry I'm not good with links

Might be good to get and use while you send yours to tighed1 to get it repaired. You could always send it to him when you get yours back so he has a spare!. (doesn't ship to Canada)

We don't care we can all use a solder gun up here.
If he's making money on the deal he can buy his own spare.

For the RCM? I had no problems replacing mine with the battery still connected.

I got one from that guy, $40.
It shows cracks around the same three pins.
I'm studying it, and may take out some relays for practice.

Does this issue effect all Crossfires, even the later ones? I'm thinking about just fixing all the known issues on my 07 before they happen since it only has 5k miles.

It does appear that this is a common fault, but only a visual inspection will confirm or deny that you have the problem.

No (real) money being made here 180. "Charge" $10 to cover return postage and the remainder buys me a beer for my work.

So I'm still interested in receiving any old/bad RCM's if you have them.

BTW haven't been on here for awhile. Opening a restaurant and have been BUSY!

Miss you folks!
